Per the 1871 Saratoga county business report he was named in the Christ Church of Ballston records as vestryman 1878-79. His tannery burned down. With his brother-in-law Matthew Vassar bought the Wait Oil Cloth factory and resumed tannery operations in 1861. He died in 1891. His sons H. Vassar Haight and Theodore S. Haight continued with Matthew Vassar. Thomas W. Hall of New York later became a partner.
